Job Summary:
A long-standing mining operation in Detroit is seeking a skilled Industrial Electrician to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems powering essential mining equipment and infrastructure. This role involves working on both underground and surface systems to ensure safety, reliability, and optimal performance in a highly industrial and unique setting. Ideal for someone who thrives in hands-on roles and non-traditional environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform preventative maintenance, installation, and repairs on electrical equipment including motors, generators, lighting, transformers, and control systems.
Troubleshoot and test 480 VAC 3-phase motor control systems.
Diagnose electrical malfunctions, isolate issues, and implement effective repairs.
Use appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment to inspect and fix components.
Maintain safety and cleanliness of work area through daily housekeeping.
Accurately complete all required shift paperwork and reports.
Follow all safety procedures and remain alert to hazards or changing site conditions.
Communicate issues that may affect safety, production, or product quality.
Collaborate across functions, perform other tasks as needed, and operate with minimal supervision.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED.
4+ years of industrial electrician experience.
Strong troubleshooting knowledge of industrial electrical systems.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.
Experience with a variety of systems and equipment such as switchgear, motor starters, transformers, relay logic, VFDs, and ideally PLCs.
Capable of operating hand tools, power tools, and lifting devices.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Fluent in spoken and written English.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to wear all necessary PPE (steel-toed boots, safety glasses, etc.).
Must be able to work in varying temperatures indoors and outdoors year-round.
Ability to lift/push/pull 50+ lbs and perform physical tasks such as climbing, stooping, squatting, and crawling.
Must pass a physical exam and drug screening.
