Industry: Engine-Driven Industrial Generators, Chillers & Heat Pumps
Our client, a respected leader in power generation and thermal management systems, is seeking a Senior Electrical Test Technician to perform advanced diagnostic, functional, and environmental testing of industrial generators, chillers, and heat-pump products. This hands-on role is vital to product validation and continuous improvement—executing detailed test procedures, troubleshooting complex electrical systems, and collaborating with engineering teams to ensure each unit meets stringent quality and reliability standards.
Conduct comprehensive electrical, temperature, pressure, and mechanical testing on production and prototype units.
Operate and maintain test equipment including DMMs, PQAs, oscilloscopes, and environmental chambers.
Perform non-destructive troubleshooting and root-cause analysis on electrical circuits, wiring harnesses, and control systems.
Partner with design, product, and manufacturing engineers to resolve test and design-related issues and drive process improvements.
Develop, document, and maintain test procedures, work instructions, and calibration schedules within the Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
Execute electrical checkout and quality-control inspections for all finished products prior to shipment.
Coordinate calibration activities with metrology vendors, ensuring all test tools and equipment remain compliant.
Train, mentor, and oversee junior technicians to ensure safety, accuracy, and adherence to testing standards.
Support the creation and implementation of test plans and validation methods for new or modified products.
Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability, and quality across test and assembly operations.
Minimum 7 years of experience as an electrical or test technician performing circuit analysis, troubleshooting, and system validation.
At least 3 years performing final test of industrial, power-generation, or heavy electrical equipment preferred.
Associate’s degree in Electrical or Engineering Technology (or equivalent experience).
Strong understanding of three-phase, single-phase, and DC power circuits, including control logic and relay-based systems.
Ability to read and interpret schematics, ladder diagrams, and wire-run lists.
Familiarity with IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, and J-STD-001 standards preferred.
Skilled in data collection, analysis, and root-cause reporting.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office; comfortable with networking and computer-based test systems.
Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with engines, generators, and chillers highly desirable.
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and team-focused professional with excellent communication skills.
This opportunity offers a blend of hands-on technical testing and collaborative engineering problem-solving. The Senior Electrical Test Technician plays a key role in ensuring the performance and reliability of mission-critical power and thermal systems—directly influencing the quality and reputation of a company recognized for innovation, integrity, and excellence in industrial equipment manufacturing.
