Design Engineer (Gasoline Diesel Injection)

Title: Senior Design Engineer – Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI)
Location: Greenville, South Carolina (On-site Only)
Compensation: $95,000 – $105,000 + Bonus
Relocation: Available for qualified candidates
Citizenship: U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (No sponsorship)


About the Opportunity

A respected Tier 1 automotive manufacturer is expanding its product development group and hiring a Senior Design Engineer with Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) fuel injector experience. This is a highly visible engineering role responsible for new product development and launch within a precision-engineered fuel systems environment. The company offers strong leadership support, technical challenge, and long-term stability.


Responsibilities

  • Lead GDI fuel injector design and development from concept through production launch.

  • Own Design Validation (DV) planning, execution, and reporting.

  • Lead PPAP readiness and interface with Quality and Manufacturing teams.

  • Develop and correlate spray and flow test methods (Baton, Loccioni, OEM correlation).

  • Produce and release detailed engineering drawings, 3D CAD models, and technical documentation.

  • Perform root cause analysis and drive corrective actions for product performance issues.

  • Ensure Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and seamless production integration.

  • Support OEM and high-performance aftermarket applications as needed.

  • Maintain engineering change records and technical data packages.


Required Qualifications

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.

  • 5+ years of Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) fuel injector design experience – Required.

  • Strong background in DV, PPAP, APQP, DFMEA/PFMEA.

  • Proficiency with CAD tools (CATIA, NX, or SolidWorks) and GD&T.

  • Working knowledge of fuel delivery systems, spray dynamics, and combustion fundamentals.

  • Experience with precision machined components and tight-tolerance designs.

  • Strong problem-solving skills using structured methodologies (8D, DMAIC, RCA).

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
