Position Overview
A well-established technology organization is seeking a Technical Product Manager to lead the strategy, roadmap, definition, and lifecycle management of advanced FPGA, RF, DSP, and mixed-signal embedded computing products.
This position combines deep engineering knowledge with product strategy. The successful candidate will understand how RF and DSP concepts translate into real-world hardware, FPGA, firmware, and embedded-system implementations.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced technical product manager or accomplished design engineer ready to transition into product management. The position supports advanced, high-reliability technologies used in demanding defense, aerospace, industrial, and commercial applications.
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
- Lead the strategy for a portfolio of advanced FPGA, RF, DSP, and mixed-signal products.
- Influence products from early concept and requirements development through new-product introduction and commercialization.
- Work across the complete signal chain—from the RF front end and data conversion to FPGA-based digital processing.
- Collaborate with highly technical engineering, sales, customer, and executive teams.
- Help define the next generation of rugged, high-performance embedded computing solutions.
- Gain significant visibility across the organization while influencing long-term technology and investment decisions.
- Work in a collaborative environment that values technical expertise, innovation, and product leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and maintain the product strategy for FPGA, RF, DSP, and mixed-signal solutions.
- Develop multiyear product roadmaps based on customer requirements, technology trends, competitive intelligence, and business objectives.
- Translate complex system requirements and engineering tradeoffs into clear product strategies and technical requirements.
- Identify market opportunities and define differentiated product concepts.
- Develop business cases for new products and present recommendations to executive leadership.
- Lead product-concept development and support the new-product introduction process from initial requirements through launch.
- Evaluate competing products, technologies, system architectures, and industry-standard form factors.
- Partner with engineering teams to establish product requirements, technical differentiation, and development priorities.
- Evaluate performance, architecture, cost, manufacturability, and schedule tradeoffs.
- Work directly with customers, sales teams, and strategic partners to understand technical and market requirements.
- Participate in complex customer discussions and provide technically credible product support.
- Develop technical presentations, training materials, product collateral, and other product communications.
- Manage product-line performance, including revenue, cost, profitability, investment priorities, and lifecycle decisions.
- Recommend product enhancements, new investments, repositioning strategies, and end-of-life actions.
- Influence cross-functional teams and drive results without direct reporting authority.
- Support secure customer engagements when required.
- Communicate complex FPGA, RF, DSP, and embedded technologies clearly to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a closely related technical discipline.
- Seven or more years of experience involving FPGA, RF, DSP, embedded electronics, mixed-signal systems, or related high-reliability technology markets.
- Strong technical understanding of FPGA architectures, RF systems, and digital signal processing.
- Strong understanding of the complete RF-to-digital signal chain, including RF front ends, data converters, FPGA processing, and DSP.
- Ability to understand practical hardware implementations—not only theoretical RF or DSP concepts.
- Experience with embedded electronics, firmware, and/or embedded software.
- Experience evaluating system-level architecture, technical tradeoffs, performance constraints, cost, and manufacturability.
- Ability to translate technical concepts into product requirements, product definitions, roadmaps, and business cases.
- Strong written, verbal, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively with engineering, sales, customers, suppliers, and executive leadership.
- Must meet applicable work-authorization and customer-access requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in engineering, business, or a related discipline.
- Product-management experience involving FPGA, DSP, RF, mixed-signal, embedded computing, or related technical products.
- Previous experience as a design engineer who transitioned into product management.
- Direct product-design experience combining FPGA, DSP, RF, and mixed-signal technologies.
- Experience with rugged embedded computing, commercial off-the-shelf products, defense, aerospace, or other high-reliability applications.
- Experience creating and managing multiyear product roadmaps.
- Experience developing and presenting business cases, investment proposals, and product strategies to executive leadership.
- Experience with new-product introduction, new-product development, product launches, and lifecycle management.
- Familiarity with military standards and requirements development for defense-related products.
- Experience delivering customer-facing technical presentations, demonstrations, and strategic engagements.
- Embedded software or firmware-development experience.
- Experience managing product revenue, cost, profitability, and overall portfolio performance.
- Experience providing technical or product leadership without direct reports.
