Staff Electrical Engineer — Advanced Radar & Mission-Critical Systems

Location: Sioux Falls, SD
Relocation Assistance Provided
U.S. Citizenship Required | Must Be Eligible to Obtain a Security Clearance

Build advanced electronics. Own critical design decisions. See your work move from concept to deployment.

We’re seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer who enjoys solving demanding hardware challenges and staying close to the technology. In this hands-on leadership role, you’ll design sophisticated electronic systems supporting radar and mission-critical applications, guide technical decisions, and mentor fellow engineers.

If your strengths include high-speed digital design, FPGA-based systems, and hardware bring-up, this opportunity offers meaningful ownership across the full development lifecycle.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • Own the engineering: Shape system architecture and lead designs through prototyping, testing, and deployment.
  • Work on challenging technology: Combine high-speed interfaces, FPGAs, embedded processors, mixed-signal electronics, and RF components.
  • Stay hands-on: Build, test, troubleshoot, and refine hardware in the laboratory.
  • Expand your impact: Mentor engineers and collaborate with customers, suppliers, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Make your next move with support: Relocation assistance is provided.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and validate high-speed digital, embedded, and mixed-signal electronic systems.
  • Develop circuitry using PCIe, DDR4/5, Ethernet, SGMII, USB, SPI, and I²C.
  • Create FPGA logic using VHDL/HDL and support processor and system integration.
  • Develop schematics and PCB layouts using Altium or comparable tools.
  • Lead hardware bring-up, verification, debugging, and root-cause analysis.
  • Build test setups and procedures to evaluate performance and reliability.
  • Support prototype assembly, component rework, and field troubleshooting.
  • Guide technical reviews, maintain clear documentation, and meet applicable quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Approximately 8–12 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Strong high-speed digital design, signal integrity, and embedded electronics experience.
  • Hands-on FPGA, VHDL/HDL, and microprocessor architecture knowledge.
  • Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB design.
  • Experience with high-speed digital interfaces and laboratory instrumentation.
  • Strong technical judgment, communication skills, and the ability to lead complex problem-solving.
  • Familiarity with Git or Subversion.

Experience That Adds Value

RF and GHz-frequency design; power electronics; aerospace, defense, or ruggedized hardware; thermal analysis and conduction cooling; and experience with spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, and signal generators.

Additional Requirements

U.S. citizenship and eligibility for access to classified government information are required. The role involves hands-on laboratory work and may require occasional travel.
