Job Description
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance and Engineering Manager to lead the rollout of our formal maintenance excellence program at our Central Ohio facility, with oversight of the Eastern Ohio site. This role requires a seasoned professional with deep expertise in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and a proven track record in engineering, people leadership, and process implementation. The ideal candidate will thrive in a change-resistant culture, collaborate closely with the SR Dir of Ops on developing and deploying new processes, and help elevate our maintenance department. This position involves splitting time approximately 80/20 between the 2 plants. The manager will supervise a team of five maintenance technicians and one planner while eventually taking ownership of EPA reporting responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the implementation and rollout of a formal maintenance excellence program, focusing on TPM principles to optimize equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and improve overall operational efficiency.
• Develop and deploy new maintenance processes in collaboration with the SR Dir of Ops, including building on our existing CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System), work requisition forms, and preventive maintenance (PM) schedules.
• Manage and mentor a distributed team of maintenance technicians and planners across both sites, fostering a high-performance culture and upscaling departmental skills through training and development.
• Navigate and drive change in a resistant environment, ensuring buy-in from stakeholders at all levels.
• Eventually assume full ownership of EPA reporting, ensuring compliance and accuracy in environmental documentation.
• Travel between both plants to provide hands-on leadership and support.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate maintenance strategies with broader operational goals.
• Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to maintenance, equipment uptime, and process improvements.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related field).
• 5+ years of experience in maintenance management, engineering, or a related role, with demonstrated expertise in TPM implementation.
• Strong people leadership skills, with experience supervising technical teams and driving performance improvements.
• Proven ability to roll out new processes and systems in manufacturing environments.
• Understanding of working effectively in change-resistant cultures, with a focus on stakeholder engagement and gradual adoption.
• Willingness to collaborate closely with senior leadership on process development and execution.
• Ability to travel regularly between both facilities.
Preferred Qualifications
• Background in solvent coating processes.
• Experience with EPA reporting and environmental compliance.
• Prior experience working for a private equity (PE) firm involved in acquiring companies and centralizing processes.
• Familiarity with CMMS systems and preventive maintenance scheduling
