Location: Raleigh, NC | Compensation: $88,000–$130,000 | Full-Time, Direct Hire

Role Overview

We are seeking a Field Applications Engineer (Automation) who brings strong hands-on experience with industrial automation hardware and software. While software knowledge is valuable, this role requires proven ability with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), PLCs, HMIs, servo systems, and fieldbus integration. This individual will be customer-facing, supporting pre-sales, design-in activities, and technical troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide customer technical support and design-in assistance for VFDs, PLCs, HMIs, and automation solutions.

  • Commission, troubleshoot, and optimize VFDs and servo motion systems in industrial environments.

  • Program and integrate PLC/HMI systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Codesys, or equivalent).

  • Support customer events, product demonstrations, and field trials.

  • Interface with engineering teams and contribute to continuous improvement in applications support.

  • Collaborate with sales and product management to influence design and deployment strategies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.

  • 3–7 years’ experience in industrial automation with a strong emphasis on hands-on commissioning and troubleshooting.

  • Proven experience with:

    • VFDs (commissioning, tuning, diagnostics).

    • Servo drives/motion systems.

    • PLC/HMI platforms (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Codesys preferred).

    • Fieldbus/industrial networks such as EtherCAT, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP.

  • Nice-to-Have: familiarity with VFDSoft, DIAStudio, Codesys 5 languages.

  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
