About this role:
We are seeking a proactive and highly capable Director of Operations (DOO) to oversee all day-to-day operations of our cold storage facility and mobile ice cream cash & carry business while helping chart our long-term strategic course.
You’ll be the operational backbone of the business—supporting our team, serving our clients, oversee revenue and continuously improving our systems.
This is a deeply involved, sleeves-rolled-up leadership role.
You’ll walk the floor daily, connect directly with renters and staff, and stay close to the heartbeat of the business.
At the same time, you’ll bring a sharp strategic lens to growth opportunities—particularly in areas like ice cream distribution, process modernization, and cross-training for key roles.
The ideal candidate is operationally excellent, people-first, detail-oriented, and passionate about building systems that scale.
As DOO, you will:
• Ensure Operational Excellence: Conduct daily check-ins with key team members, manage ongoing projects, and walk the facility to ensure standards of safety, cleanliness, and functionality are upheld.
• Lead with Integrity: Set the tone for a respectful, hard-working, family-oriented culture. Foster trust and accountability across all levels of the organization.
• Strengthen Client Relationships: Maintain open lines of communication with frozen storage renters, listening closely, responding to needs, and building lasting partnerships.
• Oversee and Enhance Inventory Systems: Evaluate current systems, identify areas for improvement, and drive operational upgrades that improve accuracy, efficiency, and usability.
• Grow and Optimize Ice Cream Operations: Oversee our mobile and cash-and-carry ice cream lines, ensuring product availability, inventory control, and customer satisfaction. Develop and execute strategies to grow this business segment.
• Build Organizational Redundancy: Identify key functions and individuals; implement cross-training and succession plans to ensure long-term stability and continuity.
• Support Facility Maintenance: Collaborate with operations leadership to proactively manage maintenance and ensure the facility remains compliant and high-functioning.
• Manage and Develop Staff: Mentor team members, oversee performance, and ensure clear responsibilities, expectations, and support systems are in place.
• Drive Strategic Planning: Collaborate with ownership to evaluate growth opportunities, track KPIs, assist in budgeting, and support long-term planning efforts.
• Oversee bookkeeping: Review various financials such as AR, AP, P&L, etc. for the goal of achieving the mutually agreed targets are hit.
Administrative and Strategic Duties:
• Monitor and report on operational metrics.
• Assist with budgeting and financial forecasting.
• Participate in long-term planning and business improvement strategies.
• Proactively identify and implement growth opportunities, especially in the ice cream segment and cash and carry operations
We’re looking for someone who brings:
• Proven experience in an operations leadership role, ideally as a Director of Operations, General Manager, or Operations Director in a warehouse, logistics, or cold storage environment
• A strong systems mindset—able to see the big picture, identify inefficiencies, and implement scalable solutions
• Excellent communication and leadership skills with a hands-on, people-centered approach
• Deep familiarity with facility operations, maintenance protocols, and inventory systems
• Comfort managing a diverse range of responsibilities—from vendor relationships, hitting revenue and profit projections, to internal training to customer-facing service
• Strong technology skills, including financial and inventory management tools
• A passion for getting the details right and for creating an environment where others can thrive
Bonus points if you have:
• Experience in freezer/cold storage environments
• Familiarity with OSHA regulations and warehouse safety standards
• Experience in retail, mobile distribution, or cash-and-carry operations
• Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish)
