Job Description
This role is pivotal in overseeing the operations of a smaller plant with a dedicated team of approximately 100 employees. (small plant)
As a General Manager, you will be responsible for managing and directing facility operations, implementing strategies for safety, environmental compliance, and continuous improvement. Your leadership will play a crucial role in achieving operational efficiency, managing budgets, and fostering a culture of teamwork and innovation.
Oversight & Strategy: Plan and coordinate facility operations, engaging in strategic discussions with the Director-Evap Operations on safety, manufacturing, reliability, capital investment, and more to optimize the facility's footprint and performance.
- Financial & CAPEX Management: Develop and monitor annual operating and capital expenditure budgets, ensuring alignment with long-range plans while guiding teams to meet financial targets.
- Production & Inventory: Establish and execute production plans to meet forecasted volumes, optimizing inventory to minimize working capital while maintaining accurate production and shipment estimates.
- Continuous Improvement: Enhance efficiency and reduce costs by analyzing production methods, processes, and personnel utilization to drive operational excellence.
- Safety, Security & Compliance: Ensure maximum safety, implement security standards, and maintain compliance with health, safety, food safety, and environmental regulations.
- Maintenance & Reliability: Oversee cost-effective maintenance of buildings, grounds, and equipment to ensure operational reliability.
- People Leadership: Direct facility management, including hiring, training, career development, and employee relations, fostering a motivated and skilled workforce.
- Quality & Sustainability: Support and improve programs for product quality, environmental performance, and sustainability, recommending policies to uphold high standards.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Engineering (Master’s preferred) or a related technical degree/equivalent experience.
- Experience: At least 10 years in manufacturing or mining, with a minimum of 5 years in mining/production/technical/maintenance management; 5+ years of site management experience preferred.
- Core Competencies: Strong leadership, analytical skills, problem-solving, and project management, with expertise in design, technical skills, and customer service.
- Interpersonal Skills: Effective oral and written communication, cross-functional teamwork, interpersonal skills, and change management.
- Strategic & Innovative: Demonstrates business acumen, strategic thinking, continuous improvement, delegation, and innovation.
- Food grade manufacturing experience- must have
We will consider candidates who have strong operations leadership with manufacturing/maintenance experience within CPG, who are currently site/plant/general manager.
With regards to education, we are looking for someone with Maintenance experience with an engineering degree. For example, experience in roles such as a Maintenance Engineer or Maintenance Manager
