Job Description
Develop CNC programs for milling and turning machines using blueprints, sketches, and models. Collaborate with operators to select cutting tools, optimize programs, and ensure efficient machine setup and operation.
Essential Job Functions
Create CNC programs using CAM software (MasterCAM® or NX®), with proficiency in either acceptable; MasterCAM is sufficient, while NX is preferred for complex parts.
Verify post-processed programs for accuracy and compatibility with specific machine tools, primarily Fanuc-controlled VTLs and lathes.
Troubleshoot design, equipment, and operational issues with engineering and plant teams.
Design or identify workholding devices, leveraging SolidWorks® or NX® CAD software for modeling (MasterCAM CAD is inadequate for this).
Collaborate with process engineers to refine process plans and enhance efficiency.
Work Environment
Controlled office and shop setting; requires PPE (safety shoes, glasses, hearing protection as needed). Weekends may be required for specific projects.
Qualifications
Requirements
Education: Technical degree in Engineering or equivalent, or 5+ years of relevant experience.
Experience: Minimum 5 years programming with MasterCAM® or NX® CAM software.
Skills:
Proficient in cutting tool selection and application.
Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Skilled with precision measuring tools and Microsoft Office®.
CAD proficiency in SolidWorks® or NX® for modeling (required due to limitations of MasterCAM CAD).
Physical Demands: Involves sitting, standing, and walking.
Other: Compliance with statutory and regulatory standards; background, credit, and drug testing required pre- and post-hire.
